Confirmed from West Ellerbee Creek Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about West Ellerbee Creek Trail
The complete name is Ellerbee Creek Trail and it is part of a larger trail system. No place to park. Park in Indian Trail parking lot. Great place to run, bike or walk your dog. My dogs loved the wooded path. It had many interesting ground covers, winding paths, benches, bridge and some labeled trees.
There's a paved walking trail with full view of Ellerbee Creek and walking trails that meander away from the creek. Saw cyclists and dog walkers. I walked the paved trail and back to Maryland Avenue in 30 minutes.
Very nice nature trail very close to the neighborhoods near the School of Science and Math. There was a lot of hard work to put this area back into a natural state. Many of the native plants are labeled. A great short hike for your kids.
Great neighborhood getaway. Running, walking, or sitting on a bench. Trees, birds, a stream, and a paved path and also an unpaved trail.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
