Confirmed from West Pinal County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

My dear wife and I went camping here at Pinal County Park West in January 2020, from the 8th to 11th. We recently purchased a used class “A” motorhome, we needed a “shakedown” cruise. I have often seen this park from the 8 freeway going to and fro San Diego.

A real gem, easy to miss, but a wonderful place for peaceful secluded dry camping. Beautiful views of the mountains, natural desert beauty, lots of mature saguaro and miles of hiking trails throughout the park.

This is a great park..well maintained and the best part is the camp spaces are large and not all bunched up together!! Nice hiking trails looping around the park too. You must reserve your spot online...I am not a fan of doing this online but this place is worth the $10.00 camping fee. It is dog friendly.

Very peaceful and relaxing. Over 2 miles of hiking trails in the park through desert terrain. Very clean. Very nice park host.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
