Confirmed from White Oak Greenway Wetlands' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about White Oak Greenway Wetlands
“Beautiful and easily accessible for morning and evening birding.”
Beautiful and easily accessible for morning and evening birding. You can get a good run in, too.
This is a nice trail. It's super long, so there's lots of different activities you can do. For us, this is our second time here. We start from Green Level Rd and park at the school. There is also a spot to park just off the side of the road. The first time we came here, we walked to the Tobacco Trail.
Love this Greenway for access to Cary and the American Tobacco Trail. Pro tip: there's an amazing beer and wine shop just off the trail. Great way to end your run/bike!
The Greenway is beautiful, but can also be crowded. There are many cyclists, some riding too fast, which creates dangers, especially for families with small kids. I guess it's also not pleasant for the cyclists who have to constantly shout 'On your left '.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
