Confirmed from Whittier Narrows Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Whittier Narrows Natural Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (503 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Yes we are Narwhals nice place so you can take a walk or go hiking or fishing because they got fish in the pond too so yeah it's real nice and beautiful”

Great place to get away from the city. This nature center is nestled right into a little bit of heaven. There is a handicapped accessible trail, Whittier Narrows Police Dept is there, a little museum with #insects #gemsandminerals #taxidermy and they even have outdoor nature classes and events for the whole family.

★★★★★ — Juju , Jul 2017

Nice local nature area. Mostly flat and paved so easy hiking/bicycling. At the moment lots of water in the San Gabriel River due to recent storms so lots of running water and everything is nicely green. You can do a nice long hike either north towards the San Gabriels or South.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 3 mentions

“I think it's a great place to visit parking and entry are free stop.”
