Confirmed from Wildlands Conservancy's Brenner-Penfield Macungie Mountain Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Wildlands Conservancy's Brenner-Penfield Macungie Mountain Preserve
“The Brenner-Pennfeild nature preserve is a well kept, naturally stunning nature preserve with gorgeous scenery.”
“Peaceful walk through the woods.”
“There are a few spots with quick elevation change, but mostly an easy walk.”
I used to walk around the mountain when I was a kid. It’s really awesome to see a real trail there now. Things to check out here are: Sheep Rock, the “bear” den below Sheep Rock, the many big old trees and local wildlife.
Great place to hike with the family. It will now be a family favorite spot. Bring your boots and enjoy a little adventure on Macungie Mountain.
great spot for a hike/run following the Magnolia trail to the Tulip trail for a total of 2.7 miles. 500 foot elevation gain with a steady uphill climb then downhill to the other side, then back again. Fair warning the trail has a lot of leaves covering it near the top making footing very difficult but fun.
This new trail is in the early stages of development but it is already an enjoyable hike with some great views.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
