We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Wilkins Peak Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Wilkins Peak Trailhead
An absolutely wonderful series of well laid out MTB trails. Hats off to the fine folks at SMBA for their hard work. Mike, Brent, et al, you all rock!
Incredible trail system! Mostly easy to moderate, with some technical sections and obstacles thrown in here and there. I thoroughly enjoyed three rides here, and got in a decent amount of climbing for each 10 or so mile loop. Lots of junctions, so I found the mtbproject app very helpful. Highly recommended area!
Basic trailhead, lots of room to park and a trail map... No other services available here.
This is primarily a mountain bike trail system. It was my first time here and I came for a trail run and found it somewhat hard to navigate because the trail signs aren't great.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
