Confirmed from Winding Creek Conservation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Winding Creek Conservation Area
“Beautiful park with a nice trail loop, it has a dock that you can fish off of and there are plenty of fish.”
The little catch-and-release pond is really nice to walk around, the path going in and out of the wood. The larger, main path is nice and long! There's also a picnic pavilion (with solar-charged lighting) and a pit toilet. Some of the trees in the wooded area are huge and beautiful, especially the pines.
Beautiful park with a nice trail loop, it has a dock that you can fish off of and there are plenty of fish. Nice to walk with kids and dogs are welcome on leash.
Well maintained trails, clean parking lots and bathrooms, and a nice little wooded area with a pond in the back.
Winding creek but our usual for this district no trails to the creek. All their corn fields look great.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
- Distance5 mi as reported — check whether that is one way or a round trip before you commit. Long enough for a real long run.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
