Confirmed from Winterset Park Nature Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This 10-acre nature park features a trail, bridges & waterfalls, plus native wildflowers & wildlife.
What runners say about Winterset Park Nature Area
“The trails and playground is Very clean and the people around are very friendly.”
“Alot of places you can just blaze your own trail and find some beautiful spots in nature .”
I finally visited after walking a section of Rock Island this morning. Follow the sidewalk past the playgrounds and ball diamonds, and cross the bridge....there you are! This would be a great place to take young children for a hike/outdoor experience fitting for their age and temperament.
Winterset Park Nature Area is actually just part of Charles Hartman Park(Main Park) in which you can find here three softball fields and walking or biking around the whole field is awesome. There I also a great park for kids from 3 to 12 years old. Rest room is available also.
Lovely close little outing!!! I heard there are multiple access points but we went passed restrooms/playground equipment towards the right, right across the bridge, then left on the trail which if you follow takes ya right to the creek.
A beautiful place and wonderfully kept! The wife and I had a wonderful time walking the path and even climbing down to the stream. The ice was just beginning to melt in the water was flowing, it was a very beautiful sight!
