Confirmed from Wittman Dam's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly area set aside primarily for hiking.
What runners say about Wittman Dam
“The views were gorgeous, I just wish parking and trail signs were more clear”
“It's so peaceful up there and really not difficult to find”
Gorgeous quiet trail. The view is absolutely stunning. It's best if you park on old state road and walk to the trail head due to the end of wittman road being private property.
Park on Old State Road. Nice easy walk to start across the dam. Then it gradually gets a bit steep, so plan accordingly. The view both partway and on top. Bring a camera, binoculars, and some water. Great hike 40minutes. Can see BCC, BU, Southside Bing all standing in one spot
Nice trail walk. Very nice view of Binghamton off the steep side off the small mountain. You could wade in the dam on a hot day. Be careful be smart...
Went and enjoyed the aerial view of binghamton also some nice waterfalls. The trail would do better if it was marked my dumb butt got lost 🤣.

“Good Overlook at top, strenuous hike, Dam itself is only for flood control pond(s), not a marked trail.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
