Confirmed from Yahara Heights County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Nice big fenced in area for your dog to run around and go swim. There is a $5 permit for the day to use the park.

★★★★★ — Sanasha , Jul 2022

This place is gorgeous, nature at its finest. Lots of trails, and water if you wanna let the dog swim.

★★★★★ — Adam , Oct 2021

Great place to commune with nature, spring, summer, winter or fall. Piles of hiking trails, gorgeous landscapes of rolling WI prairies dotted with ample patches of forested hills. Also affords some uncommon vantage points for scenic vistas of north shore of Lake Mendota, with the isthmus in the far distance.

★★★★★ — John , Sep 2021

The park is nice. Large dog area with walk in ramps. The kayak canoe boat launch is small and seperate from the dog park. It's easy to use when there aren't any fishers (who aren't supposed to be there. The short road in is unpaved.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
