Amazing park for a short winter waterfall walk/hike. I am glad I had my YakTrax on to avoid slipping on the trail (was a bit icy when I went). There’s a trail to view the falls from above and below. There is a sign warning people not to go too close to the falls.
Easy to get to, the enchanted trail has plenty of beautiful trees and shade. The Falls are amazing and the bedrock is a bit slippery so don’t attempt to walk through the river bed. The viewing platform offers a great view of the falls but taking the trail down to get a closer view is worth the trip!
Akron Falls Park is an excellent little niche to enjoy any time of year. Akron is my hometown, and this park has been a huge highlight of my life in general. We’ve had many family reunions and birthday parties at the park over the years and the facilities are constantly improving.
Akron Falls Park is a 284 acre dog-friendly, tree-filled park with a waterfall that has walking trails, pavilions, picnic area and playgrounds. The waterfalls were initially hard to find as there aren’t signs pointing to the location. I read on one review that it was by pavilion #9 and it was not.
