Confirmed from Clarence Bike Path's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“there is a nice smoothly paved bike bath that goes through a very scenic route.”

🏃 great for running 2 mentions

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“It's a great place for families or to go alone for peace and quiet!”

The Clarence bike trail follows the right of way of an old railroad known as the "Peanut Line" so it is mostly level and straight. The Clarence portion of the trail starts at Transit road and runs 6.1 miles east to the Newstead town line. From there, the trail continues another several miles to the village of Akron.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Clarence Bike Path is one of my favorite spots! It’s always clean, well-maintained, and peaceful. There’s rarely a crowd, but when you do pass someone, they’re always friendly. It’s the perfect place for a quiet walk, run, or ride. A true hidden gem in the area!

About 18 miles round trip from Clarence to Akron and back. Safe and paved. You are really out there in places. An adventure all year round.

★★★★★ — Richard , Sep 2017

Very pleasant path for walking, the only issue I have are bicyclists that don't use basic bike etiquette.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadwater — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
