Confirmed from Aliso Summit Hiking Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“It has a nice view, easy trail”

Such a great walk/hike. The trail is wide and clear, some of the path is paved but it is mostly hard dirt. The view of the ocean between the mountains and the view inland are both gorgeous. There is some shade, but it is mostly a sunny trail. Gorgeous homes line the inside of the trail.

★★★★★ — Jennifer , Apr 2021

One of the more accessible and most rewarding hikes in this area. The views are unbeatable at almost any time of day - sunset comes in first place though! Make sure to check for ticks post hike and bring a hat because there isn’t much shade.

★★★★★ — Alyssa , Apr 2023

Nice hike with ocean and mountain views. Easy and flat 4.5 miles both ways, there's street parking along Ridgeview Dr.

★★★★☆ — Claudia , Dec 2020

You can connect Aliso summit trail to Laguna Nigel top of the world park and Seaview park (easy). From Seaview park, you can hike down to Laguna Beach (difficult).

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
