Confirmed from Animas River Trail & Greenway's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This is a great place to visit in Durango. We loved the animas river and took some lovely pics. Great place for photo shoot. But be careful on the bike trail. These bikes come fast from behind and front side. It’s a probably 10 miles River side trail way that you can walk.

Super cool! Very moderate trail. Cute stops along the way on the river. Once we got to Walmart we lost the view of the river so we turned around. We personally went 12 miles that day. I think the total trail said it was 18. That’s what’s great about it- you can go as long or short as you want to ride.

Animas River trail is a clean and scenic paved multi use trail connecting north to south Durango. Beautiful views throughout. Great for walking, biking. Lots of river access points and parks throughout.

Beautiful amazing trail to experience. I'm a beginner at biking, while my husband is a little more experienced. We took the family out tonight and road the trail on our bikes. We seen two bucks still with velvet as well as a bear.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
