Confirmed from Apoxee Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This 2.5 mile trail through wetlands & flatwoods is popular for hiking & wildlife observation.
What runners say about Apoxee Trail
“The trails are absolutely beautiful, and I had a truly unexpected and amazing experience, and I even managed to take a picture.”
“Amazingly serene trails that wind on both path and bridge across wetlands and dry areas alike.”
I LOVE THIS PLACE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, great for first dates, family outings, picnics, school field trips. There is so much raw nature so much pure natural Florida that you just can’t find anymore all packed in this beautiful trail.
Scenic 💫, beautiful sounds🍃 , worth it Could see wild hogs running off in the distance. Open , airy 🌬️✨ gators 🐊 boardwalks that just take your breath away. Each spot here feels unique and simply beautiful. Another evoking must visit Oh So worth it 💎💎💎
If you want to see the real Florida this is your spot! This is my favorite place to bike. Mostly packed trails but there are areas of soft sugar sand so if you have anything other than a mountain bike it will be a struggle. Lots of hikers as well. Tons of wildlife and natural beauty so close to town!
Beautiful trail. Extremely well marked. Hours of potential hiking or biking available but there are also shorter paths. Great place to see wildlife as well! There are portions that can flood easily and some sections with minimal shade so it's important to plan around the weather.

“If it’s rained recently ID HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU WEAR RAIN BOOTS because this beautiful trail sure does get muddy very quickly.”
“It wasn't busy so parking was easy but I imagine that could be difficult on a weekend.”
“Amazingly serene trails that wind on both path and bridge across wetlands and dry areas alike.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
