Confirmed from Arroyo Trails' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Playground for kids and adults, along with picnic tables and a creek at this scenic trail for hiking, with wood bridges.
What runners say about Arroyo Trails
“There is a pavilion for shade but no where to clean the sand off at the end of play.”
“Beautiful Trail, that feels like you are stepping into a hidden world.”
Wonderful park with beautiful Pavillion complete with picnic tables. Great trails. Places for kids to climb and burn some energy. I personally love the native flower garden and all of the bat houses. Very pretty park. Great job, Channahon Park District!!
We love this park. Has a little water fun, lots of climbing, a few great walking paths, you can read the kids book along the trail, and even workout equipment!!
Beautiful Trail, that feels like you are stepping into a hidden world. The illusion is broken by the houses that but up against the sides at one point. Has a cute brook that twists and turns and follows you through the forest. You are essentially in a small valley with both sides dominated by lush foliage.
Great trail! Kids enjoy searching for the painted rocks. The climbing and play area is fantastic!!

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
