Confirmed from Athletic Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

I actually live around Hutch and come to Newton specifically for this trail! I love it! So well maintained.

★★★★★ — Sabrina , Jul 2023

Childhood memories all around here. Most of the equipment I played on is now replaced with new safety equipment. The city pool is located nearby. Sand Creek is also close with a beautiful walking path.

★★★★★ — Eve , Jul 2018

Very nice park. Has 3 sets of play equipment. 2 have sand as a base and 1 is rubber. Wish it had a splash park because my kids don't like to swim but enjoy running through sprinklers

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🌳 Shaded / tree cover 3 mentions

“Plenty of sunny room-to-roam for kids as well as nice shade trees for relaxing.”
