Confirmed from Avondale Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Avondale Park
This walking trail is another one of Carroll County's not-so-hidden gems. It's a diverse path that runs through woods as well as a neighborhood and even a section with huge boulders on each side. They are also rebuilding the playground just beside the parking lot. It's a really nice one.
There is a small walking/jogging loop around the playground area that's mostly shaded. Kind of secluded from the rest of the Wakefield Valley trail, and right of the parking lot.
Little league ball field. Not much else here except some walking trails. There is usually a port-a-pot in the parking lot, but you're better off making sure the kids go at the house before you leave.
Trail conditions & character
“However, the new playground has a rock climbing wall that resembles the rocks that used to be there, and It has a huge, steep and fast slide.”
“There is usually a port-a-pot in the parking lot, but you're better off making sure the kids go at the house before you leave.”
