I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Bear in mind its VERY small, but the views and the history made for a wonderful quick hike with my kiddos! It won't take long but there's plenty of other things in the area that you can hit multiple stops for a fun day trip like we did.
This is a really nice park, but I was expecting a little more after going to the one near St. Louis. The mounds are well preserved and maintained. The signage is wonderful as you walk around the paths. The stockades are in better shape than the ones down south.
The historical markers set up along the trails were informative and interesting. They did a good job of giving a basic understanding of the culture. The mounds and stockade were also interesting. The trails were well groomed and easy to follow. The landscape was gorgeous. The river was beautiful too.
An overlooked gem! Great history here. The trails are nicely mowed and wind all over the property. Was able to hike just shy of 4 miles.
