Confirmed from Bald Mountain Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Bald Mountain Trail Head
“Northern is a little more relaxed and offers great views of the surrounding lakes.”
“Very well marked with signs at every intersection indicating where you are and which direction you are heading.”
I've been to Bald Mountain south many times, and thought it was nice. This week we tried this one (north), and all I can say is WOW. I had no idea some place this beautiful existed in Southeast Michigan. It feels like the foothills of Kentucky, especially on the white trail... The blue trail has lots of pine forest.
Did both the southern loop and the northern loop from this trailhead. Southern is good elevation changes and pacing. Northern is a little more relaxed and offers great views of the surrounding lakes. Good for a quick fix of nature! Solid quick day hike opportunity. Will be doing again in the future.
Beautiful hiking trail. Did 5 miles. I went into the Bald Mountain rec area where the beach is and had a hard time finding the trail head. Walked out the back of the park, down the trail at the back of the last roundabout and down that road a ways until I found a trail head.
The hiking trails here are outstanding! Very well marked with signs at every intersection indicating where you are and which direction you are heading. The paths are well cleared and maintained. There are miles and miles of trails and if you added them all up it would probably be over 10 miles worth(rough estimate).
