Confirmed from Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hilltop park with views of Downtown Los Angeles plus hiking trails & history exhibits.
What runners say about Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook
“You can see the Hollywood sign, and as far as your eyes will let you see, it’s just an overall beautiful view, you feel close to nature as you hear many of the birds chirping.”
“Family friendly with lots of nature to enjoy as well!”
Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook is a hidden gem in LA! The stairs are a fun little challenge, but the views at the top are absolutely worth it. You get this stunning panoramic view of the city, especially at sunset—it’s like the whole skyline lights up. Perfect spot to take friends visiting for the first time.
Definitely one of the best views in LA. At the top you get breathtaking panoramic views of LA and can see everything. Go at sunset for a truly magical experience, golden hour just hits different with downtown LA in the background.
My favorite hiking trail! It's easily accessible and free! I really like you can basically choose your level of difficulty with your hike, there are multiple trails plus the steps so you can do as much or as little working out as you want. Family friendly with lots of nature to enjoy as well!
One of my favorite parks to hike at. The beginning of the scenic overlook is a pave way for cars to come up and down. there’s a sidewalk that’s fenced on the left side going up. If you’re here to do training, or just out here to get some aerobic exercising, this is the best place to come to IMO.
Trail conditions & character
“If you are looking for not intense hiking place where you can rest and enjoy in nature with beautiful views over the city this is the right place for you!”
“There is a parking lot at the top of the hill already for those who do not want to hike much, as well as stairs from the base for those looking for a challenge.”
“I opted from doing the stairs or trail because it was already pretty late so I parked on the upper lot and it was $2 for day parking, and there’s plenty of parking.”
“I really like you can basically choose your level of difficulty with your hike, there are multiple trails plus the steps so you can do as much or as little working out as you want.”
“Being so accessible within the city, yet full of trails and diverse plant and animal life, it truly feels like a feast for both the eyes and the soul.”
