Confirmed from Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook Hike Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Trail and stair-focused hiking path with city views, a park, and a visitor center at the summit.
What runners say about Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook Hike Trailhead
“I can go on…as a “guy”…there were more beautiful girls, than the ration of men to women would suggest, AND…there’s a whole Nother Hill…on the other side!”
Very scenic hike with great panoramic views of LA. It does have a stroller-friendly path that is bumpy and does lead out to a road for part of the hike. Once you get to the top it's all worth it for the views. Also great are the food trucks at the bottom with much needed smoothies and juices.
Looking for a local place to get out and enjoy a challenging walk. This is the place. The vibe here is great. The people are nice and greet you as you walk by. Not a lot of dogs, but there are dogs but they are on a leash. Great place for family walks! Enjoy your walk or workout! 😉
This place was really fun. It was a short and sweet easy hike. The only part that was more strenuous was the stairs. You don’t have to take the stairs though, you can hike up the side roads made for just pedestrian traffic. I can see there are a lot of people who go here and have group workouts which seems really cool.
I love the Scenic Oberlook at Baldwin Hills. The stairs are a minster. They are very high step.i didn't go to the top today but have in the past. The park suppose to close at 6pm however people are out there late at night walking up those steps in pitch dark. Most use cell phone lights.
Trail conditions & character
“The trailhead is at the bottom of the Baldwin Hills where steep stairs or a dirt trail will take you to the hilltop with a fantastic view.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
