Confirmed from Ballard Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Sizable green space with athletic fields, a disc golf course & a skate park plus play equipment.
What runners say about Ballard Park
“That said, the park was very clean (including the bathrooms) and everything worked and was in good, working order on the playground.”
“It was a great all around experience in a beautiful park with great people.”
I love it here. This is my go to relax spot where I can just enjoy the scenery, eat lunch, feed the ducks or whatever. It's refreshing if you have nothing to do but wanna get out of the house. It has plenty of restrooms to use as well as a couple of playgrounds for kids to run around.
They put on a great 4th of July show!🎆🎇 With just recently moving down here to MS I'm glad somewhere close had a firework show for the kids. I also love bringing the kids to the park and walking around the pond on any other day.
Very pleased with the new updates to Ballard Park! The playground is phenomenal and very inclusive. We also love to see the Christmas lights on the walk path every year. Definitely a great spot for the family.
Loved the new addition to the park! And of course, we still love walking the loop and feeding all the cute little ducks!

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
