Confirmed from Bangert Island's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Trail that winds through wooded areas and parkland, with mountain biking possibilities.
What runners say about Bangert Island
“Me and my boyfriend went walking on one of the shorter trails to get to the river and it was beautiful.”
“My new favorite close by jogging place.”
“Very easy, scenic, peaceful and an easy stroll through the woods with a great view of the river and a bench to rest at.”
Beautiful level 1 hike. I am able take my 2 year old daughter on the 1/2 mile river walk. Very easy, scenic, peaceful and an easy stroll through the woods with a great view of the river and a bench to rest at. There are other routes on the trails that can take you up to 2 to 3 miles walking.
HUUUUUUGE trees, some of the biggest I've seen in Missouri and a lot of them have fallen and taken many others down with them. Great trail, fun relaxing, and just an easy family hike.
Me and my boyfriend went walking on one of the shorter trails to get to the river and it was beautiful. Fun nature walk
I really like the trails because you can circle around and don't have to repeat a lot of the walk. You'll see scenic views of the Missouri River, Hollywood Casino, Blanchett Memorial Bridge and more. Recently the park management of the park changed to City of St. Charles.

“I do see how it could be muddy in in climate weather, but it has rained recently this week and although the ground was damp, it was not muddy.”
“natural wooded, winding dirt trails rather than flat paved trails that are at most parks around here.”
“Well, you do get a few glimpses of the river…… The trail is close to roads, including Highway 70, so you will always hear some level of road noise.”
“Nice secluded trail, my dog and I enjoyed it a lot!”
“Very easy, scenic, peaceful and an easy stroll through the woods with a great view of the river and a bench to rest at.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain

- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
