This is a great hidden hike through a lesser-known conservatory in the Greater Pittsburgh region. You're likely to be on this trail solo! I didn't hike every path that forked off my main trail, but I will be back to explore more!
Newly conserved (at time of this writing) greenspace by Allegheny Land Trust. Established trail network on what is, at times, steep terrain! Adequate parking in new gravel lot. New signage and trail markers, and multiple new wooden benches for sitting along the trails, and at the entry points.
Beautiful place to hike. Less crowded than South Park. Top loop is very easy and the lower loop will give you a nice workout. The property is owned by Allegheny Land Trust and maintained by volunteers. Please hike out what you bring in.
Growing up in this Community, we always referred to this place as, "the slag dumps." However, I'm glad that the Borough kept it a Green Space. It boasts well maintained trails & is a wonderful, beautiful & quiet place to enjoy walks & if you're quiet, to observe a variety of wildlife.
