We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Bighorn Overlook Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Bighorn Overlook Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (27 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Very short uphill trail that takes you to a nice scenic spot overlooking a section of the Coachella valley.”

A safe place to walk alone or with someone. Two roads for walking the time I need and one car’s street beside. I started to come here because the doctor recommended me to do something that I like and of course I love hiking. I was with a lot of anxiety for the routine of doing the something, work and housecleaning.

Great hike. You can make it as easy or as difficult as you want. Many variations to jump on other trailers. Located behind RM city hall. Usually pretty quiet and not a lot of people traffic like other hikes. Great view of planes landing for you aviator fans.

Park in the upper lot of the Rancho Mirage City Hall and you'll be right at the base of the trail. The trail is a little narrow and rocky at first but gets better. At the top you'll currently find a Christmas tree set up and a bench to enjoy the view from before continuing your hike.

Very short uphill trail that takes you to a nice scenic spot overlooking a section of the Coachella valley.. it connects to the Jackrabbit trail which then connects to the roadrunner trail.. the trail is considered easy..

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
