Confirmed from Bike Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Bike Trail
“Clean, beautiful, fun, nature, and wildlife all around.”
The Gooseberry bike trail is a fun trail that runs around the edges of Gooseberry park making use of all the wooded areas. The main starting point is opposite the main parking lot exit, but other good starting points include the south side of the path just off the Lindenwood bridge, the southern most point off the…
I'm not entirely sure whether "Gooseberry Bike Trail" refers to the paved trail that cuts thought the park or the mountain bike trail that winds around the park, but either way, both deserve a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating.
Fun trail to learn. Ask a local for a tour as there are a lot of overlapping trails, but just fine to explore. Local trail builders place signage, but unfortunately floods and vandals keep destroying them. Thanks to the Fargo Moorhead Trailbuilders for all the work they do keeping it cleared.
Beautiful park with trails when their not too wet. Lovely fishing spots. Gorgeous foliage, picnic areas, and a big play area for children. Right on the river with little creatures and birds following you on your way. Good longer trail for runners to do a couple miles with markers all along the way.
Trail conditions & character
“A lot of places to stop and view, including lighthouse, waterfalls and nature!”
“Nice paved trail, some spots a bit rough from the tree roots.”
“If you know the spots there are fun dirt jumps, log skinnies, several drops, berms, rocky short descents, stairs.”
“Plenty of parking and oversized vehicles don't have a problem.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
