Confirmed from Black Cat Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Black Cat Preserve

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (11 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Good walk today on Christmas Day with Bali the dog lots off hills and ticks but fun

★★★★☆ — Liam , Dec 2023

Heard an Osprey. Good hills for exercise. Someone keeps the branches off the path which makes for a great experience. If you want to stay on flat ground walk the first path around the former bog. Lots of maple trees where the bog once was.

★★★★★ — Kirsten , Aug 2024

I love this place! Great trails, beautiful views, and when you're done, you definitely feel the workout!

★★★★★ — Paige , Mar 2025

Nice place, but definitely check the trail map before deciding which trail to take. We didn't realize the one we were on wasn't a loop, and it was long and had a lot of uphill climbs. I thought I was going to have to carry my wife out when she was only expecting a short, leisurely walk.

★★★★☆ — Richard , Apr 2025

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
