Today we chose the Black Hole of Calcutta Falls Trailhead for a family hike with the kids. We didn’t go too far—just about three miles—but it was enough to enjoy the beautiful views along the way. Bicycles are not allowed on this trail, but dogs and horses are welcome.
Great hiking trail , suitable for families, great views of the river and at the “end” a beautiful waterfall to enjoy. Very pretty. Takes about 3hours round trip. Parking in the area is difficult. If you can park in the self serve $10parking area it’s better.
Beautiful trails with amazing views of the American River. We went on the North Fork side and had a blast. Our pup had fun too. Many trails leading to the river bank for a refreshing swim or soak in the water. Very relaxing hike. Only drawback, like other reviews is the parking. Hence, the four stars.
Family friendly hike! Small trickling waterfall even in October! Come early in the day for a chance at parking and choose spring for better water flow.
