Confirmed from Black Mountain Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Popular hiking area with varying difficulty levels offering 360-degree views of the Las Vegas Valley.
What runners say about Black Mountain Trailhead
“We all contribute to this place, and it’s a beautiful reminder of our collective spirit.”
“Keep in mind that you should bring adequate hydration and cover up with a hat and sunscreen in the hotter months as there is absolutely no shade on this trail.”
“Trail is clearly marked and this is up and down, not the loop.”
Please stay on the trail and don’t make rock sculptures. This is a preservation area and it should remain as untouched as possible to preserve its beauty. Uphill has the right of way.
This is a fabulous trail with wonderful views. It is about 7.4 miles to go to the peak and back. The elevation is over 600 feet; it may be windy or cooler on top in spring, so it is best to set out earlier rather than later in the day.
This is an excellent place to hike 7 miles and enjoy views of the Vegas Valley and Henderson. We've done this trek several times. Keep in mind that you should bring adequate hydration and cover up with a hat and sunscreen in the hotter months as there is absolutely no shade on this trail.
Wonderful place to do a hike. Very rewarding finale with spectacular views of the whole valley. Trail is well maintained and easy to navigate. Starts easy and smooth ,gaining grade all the way to the peak. On the top, you will find a secured cove with ammo can holding a diary where you can record your achievement.
