Confirmed from Blendon Ravines Metro Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hidden natural area featuring woodland ravines as well as hiking trails, some rugged and unpaved.
What runners say about Blendon Ravines Metro Park
“Gorgeous trails that lead to Big Walnut Creek and big views of exposed shale and other geological wonders.”
The hundred acre wood hiking area is primitive and truly extraordinary. The path to the water is very steep, but the gentle stream is a great reward. The hike also has lots of downed trees that must be crossed.
Great area to hike. Make sure you have your gps on because the trails aren't marked and sometimes end abrubtly.O nce you get your sense of direction the major feature, atleast for me are the views of Big Walnut Creek.
I hate to share this best kept secret but this is a beautiful hiking trail.
Note: Update! Since I wrote this review, I have discovered there IS an easy path you can take! If you want the easy path, enter the woods using the path in the right of the grassy area. If you want the fun path, enter the woods using the path to the left.
Trail conditions & character
“O nce you get your sense of direction the major feature, atleast for me are the views of Big Walnut Creek.”
“Lots of fallen trees along paths you have to step over, so if you have dog who can't do a bunch of hopping/jumping this isn't the best place for them.”
“It's unimproved, the trail can be hard to find under the leaves, there are substantially steep hills, and you have to be careful not to trespass on contiguous private property.”
“No parking lot but you can park on the side of the street and there is a small concrete pad off the road that will hold a car.”

“Trails are primitive and can get VERY muddy, I strongly suggest only attempting the steeper parts if you’ve got good hiking shoes.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
