Confirmed from Blue River Parkway Trails - Blue Ridge Blvd Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly area with trails for hiking and mountain biking.
What runners say about Blue River Parkway Trails - Blue Ridge Blvd Trail Head
“Very clean and trails were in great shape.”
“Beautiful scenery and awesome trails that wind all through the woods.”
“Trails, access points, new paths are not clearly marked.”
This is some of the best trail hiking in the KC area. We did several training hikes here and enjoyed it. The parking is bad, but the trails are good. I have read that this used to be a Boy Scout camp back in the 1930s.
Moutain bike trails east Blue River Rd. are tough. Trails to the west, near the river, are easier. Both awesome and beautiful scenery.
Beautiful scenery and awesome trails that wind all through the woods. There are plenty of places to feel secluded but you're never too far from a road and despite there being several tougher trails there's always an easy alternative close by.
Basement and Bo Ha Ca trails are great for hiking (or MTB) and easily accessed from this trail head. There is parking for several cars here, or more further south on Blue Ridge Blvd with another access trail from that parking area.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
