We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Boone's Crossing Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Boone's Crossing Trail
This trail is in good condition but, beyond the straight track in with open area to the left and woods to the right, there really isn't all that much of interest. A highlight is a good restroom at the parking area. The day I walked this trail (06/28/25) it was very buggy, so winter walking is advisable.
The Boone's Crossing Trail is located at the Big Muddy National Refuge-Boone's Crossing Unit. It's near the huge rec field complex but feels a world away. The trail is an easy loop. It runs through wooded bottom land near the Missouri River. The river can be seen on the north side of the trail.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
