Confirmed from Katy Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Katy Trail

“The entire thing is gravel which will cover your bike with a thin layer of white powder, but it's a small price to pay for a beautiful ride.”
“A great Rails to Trails trail perfect for biking, hiking or jogging.”
“Some sections are covered in a nice canopy of shade trees while others are out in the open.”
Great trails! All the gravel trails are very well-maintained and the views next to the river are fantastic.
Our favorite place to bike! Most of the trail is shaded and it's plenty wide for bikers, walkers, and runners to mix. The entire thing is gravel which will cover your bike with a thin layer of white powder, but it's a small price to pay for a beautiful ride.
Great hiking and biking trail. Mostly level and covered well by surrounding trees. Connects to the Busch Greenway and Missouri Greenway Bridge for access to a larger Network of trails. Great views of the Missouri River.
Did the whole trail. Started in clinton and ended in st.charles. 5 days of gorgeous wildlife, trails, and camping.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says

- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
