Confirmed from Boston Lot's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Great easy hike to walk the dog around the lake.”

Beautiful and generally well-marked trail network that is maintained by the local mountain bike club. Great trail running!

★★★★★ — Jim , Oct 2020

A hike up to the lake from the parking lot is easy and short. The trail is wide and well maintained. The lake is simply gorgeous. The trail around the lake is not as nice. Tends to be a tad dark and you often don't get the view of the lake.

★★★★☆ — Akiko , Sep 2020

Wonderful trails! About an hour long at a quick pace round trip from the parking lot up the hill, take a right and go counterclockwise around the lake.

★★★★★ — Elizabeth , Mar 2021

A quite pleasant, not very long, but good fun up-hill hike to the Boston Lot Lake nature area. Other trails connect West Lebanon to Hanover and Lebanon.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
