Confirmed from Boyd Big Tree Preserve Conservation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Loved it here! The trails were marked the entire time. There were short trails and longer trails. There were easy trails a d more difficult trails. Great place to get a hike in!

Some great loop trails! This is a place I would feel comfortable by myself. There are some spots where the incline would be tough if you have issues with mobility but it is easy to turn around and pick a different section. Definitely wear supportive shoes. Plenty of shade on the trails and the bathroom was clean.

Clearly blazed trails and a variety of different hiking difficulties. The creek is lovely, as is the pond trail, where we heard choruses of frogs. Maps navigates right to it, and the field in front is home to a wide variety of amazing local birds.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Boyd Big Tree Preserve Conservation Area

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
