Confirmed from Peters Mountain Appalachian Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Peters Mountain Appalachian Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (200 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“Ohhhh the Appalachian trial, how beautiful you are regardless of what section I'm on.”

Great hike. There was alot of fog. Which added to the intense ambience we went the last day of December. The weather was awesome for hiking. The fog was ominous and intense and great. You could probably only see about 3 to 600 feet in front of you and then there's this wall of fog. Great time.

Great section of the AT. My nephew and I did a quick overnight. The trail club responsible for this section has done an amazing job keeping this clear and clean. Becareful there are Rattle Snake.

Medium size parking lot with easy access to the trail and half decent winter views.

★★★★★ — Richard , Feb 2025

This place has one of the prettiest views that is easy to get to. It's only about a 10 minute walk to get to the small overlook. It's peaceful and clean! Plenty of wildlife, rock formations and views to catch on this hike.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
