Confirmed from Boynton Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Dog-friendly park featuring hiking trails and open fields with picnic tables.
What runners say about Boynton Park
“The trails are well kept and easy to navigate.”
“The trails were clearly marked and well taken care of.”
“My dogs love it, this is the exact type of place I've been looking for.”
This is the best place to take dogs! Definitely consider it an "off leash dog park" because that's effectively what it is. You'll encounter lots of unleashed dogs on all the trails. My dogs love it, this is the exact type of place I've been looking for. Gets very muddy after the rain so watch the softball field..
Great place to walk dogs on or off leash. Everyone is friendly and respectable, there are trails ranging from half a mile all the way up to 5+ miles through some great terrain.
Boynton is a wonderful unofficial off leash dog park. With maintained walking and hiking trails there is also an old softball field that dogs run in. If you have small children who do not like dogs I would not recommend going here. This is truly a dog park, not a playground for children.
We vigorously walked every trail in this park in just about 2 hours. The trails were clearly marked and well taken care of. It’s nice to have a park so close to the city. Mostly easy hiking except for some minor technical challenges. It’s appropriate and fun for children. I wish I had a child to bring here.
Trail conditions & character

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
