Confirmed from Brown Mountain Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking trail running about a quarter-mile, with steep sections and elevation gains to the top offering panoramic views.

“Easy trail, but very rocky and not maintained, so hike it at your own risk/discretion.”
We love this short at times a little steep rugged hike to get a work out & when you reach the top, take in a beautiful 360' view of Mesa & surrounding area. Right on Brown Rd I make 2 or 3 round trips with the 🐩 and enjoy seeing others do the same.
Easy hike up to the top of Brown Mountain. Really Beautiful 360° view of the valley. Hiking this could take less than an hour, but the view will make you want to stay for longer!
Very easy hike to first landing. The second hike up is a challenge, but very beautiful views of superstitions mountains ⛰️ !!! Also very beautiful at night.
very beautiful view, decent hike, free hill. would definitely recommend for sunset

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
