Bug Light Park is a true hidden gem in South Portland. The view from the park is absolutely spectacular, especially the stunning skyline of Portland across the bay. It's a peaceful and scenic spot where you can enjoy the fresh ocean breeze and watch the boats go by.
Visiting Portland Breakwater Lighthouse, also known as Bug Light, was a great stop while exploring the Portland area. The lighthouse has a unique design compared to many others in Maine and sits beautifully along the waterfront at Bug Light Park.
We started our road bike ride from here. This lighthouse is very different, it is smaller, but the City of Portland makes for a dramatic backdrop, more so if there isn't a cruise ship parked in between.
Lots of people walking around and taking pictures. There is a lot of space for blankets for picnics and picnic benches. We saw some people grab lobsters and eat them there. Fisherman were getting on their boats, kids were playing, dogs were running... Just a great area with chill happy vibes.
