Confirmed from Fort Allen Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 18 mentions

“Beautiful scenery, genuinely better than most places ive ever visited.”

🌳Beautiful, Water-side Park🌳 Built in 1890s, Fort Allen Park is a 10-acre, historical, urban park that features artifacts from the USS Portland and USS Maine, as well as multiple memorials. It features a lovely view of the water, with plenty of trails to walk.

•Handicap parking and plenty of well paved paths. •Perfect panoramic view of the bay. •Not a typical “park.” The walking paths wind their way gently down the hill and through the park. •The landscaping was well maintained.

Gorgeous views over to the islands and of Fort gorges. Lots of spots to sit, relax and admire the views! Walk down to the waterfront and admire the Maine Narrow gauge train. Walk down the waterfront and to left and you’ll find some food trucks. A lovely place to wander in the beautiful weather.

What a beautiful place! Loved it. Lots of great trails and views of the water. We watched a yacht club training people which was very interesting to see. Great view of the fort. It was a perfect day, sunny and mid-70s. I would definitely go back. The house is along the promenade are magnificent

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
