Confirmed from Bull Valley Staging Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 12 mentions

“This is a beautiful place to hike or walk, a perfect place for a picnic tables included.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

It’s a great place to have a short walk with nice views of the Carquinez Strait. There’s also views of the Carquinez Bridge (or bridges) and the Benicia/Martinez Bridge at the other end of the park. There’s a nice Eucalyptus grove.

★★★★★ — Miik , Jul 2022

Great short trail loop to take your dog on and overlook the strait. There’s an overlook to watch trains go by too, if that’s your thing. Relatively shallow in the early parts, but can get steep towards the farther out parts. Current (5/4/2024) warning: Watch for ticks!

★★★★★ — Sasha , May 2024

Some amazing views of the Carquinez strait; Benicia and the bridge. Unfortunately a fire broke and burned part of the eucalyptus forest and surrounding hills. But still a great place.

★★★★★ — Carlos , Aug 2022

It was a really nice walk from here to Port Costa and back. I would give it 5 stars but I didn't see any cows.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
