One of the only parks in the east bay with significant legal singletrack for MTB and EMTB riders. Tree Frog on the backside is one of the best flowie trails while Middle Trail on the front side is the best and worth sessioning. I went today on Saturday April 20th 2024 and Sugar City is infested with ticks.
Steep climbs, nice views at the top. Fun descent through the trees, could have been more flowy if the trails were less straight. Climb from the bottom is tough if you’re not in shape or don’t have an e-bike. No place to refuel so bring your water and snack.
It is so alive here! Stuffed with birds singing, flowers blooming, bugs pollinating, garter snakes sunning themselves. Parking was easy and I enjoyed the loop trail I took. Very shaded and pleasant, classic mixed oak woodland.
Great park with scenic views and fairly well maintained trails. (A few trails are getting some high grass). Facilities were available at the top of the hill along with a picnic area. Bring water and sunscreen.
