Confirmed from Cache Creek Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Dog-friendly outdoor area featuring numerous trails for hiking, skiing and biking.
What runners say about Cache Creek Trailhead
“I went with a friend and this was my first time ever going to cache creek, the trial is rugged but it’s so beautiful.”
“It was beautiful for those of all ages.”
“Nice make-your-own-adventure trails close to town, and dog-friendly!”
Great trails nearby Jackson for dog friendly adventuring! When we went, there were people out but the trails weren’t crowded and we went long periods without running into anyone. Dogs are allowed. They must be on leash in designated areas near the parking lot and for a short distance onto the trail.
Great multi use trail. Saw casual walkers, runners, cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and fat bikes on this trail. Runs parallel to the creek and in the valley of 2 mountain sides.
As a local resident this is our favorite go-to trail for hiking. You will find us and our pug on the trail 5 days a week doing variations of loops. This trail is the best trail to get out and get a workout in or do some out in mountain biking. Most the tourist head out to GTNP.
Better than what I expected! Photos on here don't do justice, and I wish I took photos. Absolutely beautiful, family friendly. I think we took Hagen trail, we didn't complete the whole hike, however we really enjoyed it.

“Made the mistake of going a 2 nd time when it was rainy won’t do that again seeing its a dirt trail so super muddy.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
