Confirmed from Calabasas Trail Head (La Tierra Trails)'s own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Calabasas Trail Head (La Tierra Trails)

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (37 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Beautiful views, great trail for a first day in Santa Fe with young kids, while acclimatizing to the altitude.”

🪧 well-marked 3 mentions

“Great trails, well marked and traveled but never crowded.”

Excellent set of mostly flat trails inside a large open space. The trail seems largely set up for biking but is also very good for hiking. Trail system is just a little bit difficult to navigate sometimes but the openness of the flats makes it difficult to truly get lost.

Some parts of the trails are easy, and some are a little more difficult and require climbing over some obstacles. My dog and I had a nice time!

★★★★★ — Jen , Feb 2024

The intermittent trailhead areas are marked with numbers to tell you which junction you're approaching. The trails are smooth with some fist sized rocks in transitional areas. Keep your head about you--riders and runners coming downhill will often be on your side of the trail.

Beautiful trail- incredible sunset view. Rolling hills, moderately rocky, accessible for trail running or mountain biking

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
