Confirmed from Caledonia State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
A 1,125-acre park nestled within South Mountain for hiking, fishing, hunting, picnicking & camping.
What runners say about Caledonia State Park
“Very clean bathrooms, probably the cleanest I’ve ever seen in a state park.”
“A beautiful state park nestled in the South Mountain range in southern Pennsylvania, Caledonia State Park is an 1100 acre facility offering much in outdoor activities.”
“Probably one of the most peaceful campgrounds we’ve ever stayed in.”
We just came for the day and pretty much just stayed by the creek which was wonderful for the kids. The water is easy accessible and very shallow which is great for smaller children. The trails were clearly marked, there were lots of benches and grills. The bathrooms right by the creek were clean.
The park is beautiful and the area is clean. However, they really pack them in. Campsites are side by side in areas and our campsite # 149 should not be a site at all. We would have been very disappointed if not for the fact that we hike most of the day. Please retire #149.
I love it here. The views are great. Great for bird watching and great for nature walks. Fishing is fun. I love going on mtn rides around the big loop and love watching the sunset/sunrise here. All kinds of wild life.
Caledonia State Park is a true gem in Pennsylvania! This beautiful park offers something for everyone including stunning trails like the Appalachian Trail and Ramble Trail, perfect for hiking or a leisurely stroll through lush forests and alongside clear streams.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
