Confirmed from Abigail Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Abigail Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (45 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“8-mile loop offers a moderate challenge with a mix of inclines, rocky terrain, and beautiful scenery, including views of Long Pine Reservoir.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“It is a nice trail near the reservoir, but not clearly marked in several places.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“The peaceful forest, mountain laurels, and occasional wildlife sightings make it a gem for nature lovers.”

Despite the map, the road ends a mile before the trailhead. If you want to see th falls, take the trail on the far side of the dam.

We really love this trail. Well marked and just a really nice trail. Love the part down by the water which is really beautiful. Has an incline but not to much of one to make the hike strenuous, so it is a great hike to take to just enjoy nature.

Abigail Trail in Fayetteville, PA, is a fantastic hiking spot in Michaux State Forest! This 5.8-mile loop offers a moderate challenge with a mix of inclines, rocky terrain, and beautiful scenery, including views of Long Pine Reservoir. The trail is perfect for hikers, runners, and dog owners.

Awesome trail! Don’t think many people walk it because of the way it looks & can be a little tricky to follow or maybe I just wondered off the trail into & across the spillway. Fun though. Found a large rock to climb & take a nap on.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
