Confirmed from California Crossing Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about California Crossing Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (119 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“The trail is pretty great because there are a lot of resting areas, and some with really scenic views.”

Went on a bike ride up and down the Campion Trail, really hot. So I took some of the dirt trails along the Trinity river. Much cooler. Great views and lots of poison ivy, so stay on the trail.

This is a great park! You can run, bike, use the River for paddling or fishing. It also has equestrian trails that you can sorta mountain bike on if you don’t have a horse.

★★★★★ — Rohan , Sep 2022

The trail was amazing. My boyfriend and I went bike riding and it was such an easy nice ride. There are enough curves and hills for the ride to be interesting. It is more on the heavy side of the populated spectrum so remember to be cautious and courteous to the other patrons. There are a lot of joggers.

Great place to ride your bike, or go for a walk. There is a short, but very nice Nature trail. I've seen coyotes, honed owls, rabbits, and once a large bobcat. I like to take my dogs there to walk the nature trails.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 7 mentions

“A long concrete walking trail branches off the small parking lot and provides good views of the trees and river.”

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
