Confirmed from Camillus Forest Unique Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hike and woodland trails on a green space where dogs are welcome.
What runners say about Camillus Forest Unique Area
“Really beautiful, good trail marking throughout, hiked most of the trails in an hour or so”
“Nice Dog friendly hiking area, with some interesting sites along the way.”
A nice place to walk around. Some good view points that have descriptions of what you are looking at printed out to read. Trails are marked well. Extremely muddy in some places, so be sure to wear good boots. Found 3 ticks on me after leaving, so be wary of that.
I've been hiking at the Camilla's unique area for years with my dogs. I just love it there! There are so many different trails to take and the view at the top is beautiful! There are some hills to hike up, but it's definitely worth it. If you're looking for a good hiking place, I'd recommend this place for sure !
Great hike, went around the entire perimeter trail, markers were a little sparse in areas, and due to the time of year some areas were pretty muddy. But overall a great hike and some really cool views!
Nice place near Syracuse to connect with nature. If you go all the way upto the top of the trail (trail 5) about 700ft above sea level, you can see the Onondaga lake and Syracuse city from there.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
