Confirmed from Cannon Valley Trail - Old West Main Access' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Paved rail-trail for bicycling and hiking that passes through scenic woods and parks.
What runners say about Cannon Valley Trail - Old West Main Access
“Spectacular views, great bike trail, well maintained and a great walk.”
“Some of the most beautiful scenery, and a fairly easy ride.”
Beautiful trail to walk on and enjoy. Slightly disappointed that pets aren’t allowed on the trail as I love to skate and take my dog with me.
Good trail head at Red Wing end of Cannon Valley trail. Parking available for about 20 vehicles. We park here, and then bicycle the 20 miles to Cannon Falls where we have lunch before riding back down river to this trail head.
Good riding path. The path is wider between trailhead and Welch, narrower between Welch and Red Wing.
Similar to the GATEWAY trail... Slight inclines, well groomed trail.. Nice ride!

“Much of it provides views of the Cannon River, and most of it is pretty well canopied with trees making it a pretty nice place to ride on a hot day.”

“This particular trailhead has good signage, ample parking in a hard surface, lot, picnic table, drinking fountain, and chemical toilet.”
“The trail itself is a rail trail conversion, thus quite flat all the way between Red Wing and Cannon Falls.”
“Great paved trail with lots of good places to stop for bathroom enjoy sights or just rest.”
“This particular trailhead has good signage, ample parking in a hard surface, lot, picnic table, drinking fountain, and chemical toilet.”
